Leading in the Integral Age: Evolutionary Leadership for  the 21st C

The focus of this workshop will be on leading self, others, organizations and systems using Spiral Dynamics’ 4 Quadrant / 8 Level competencies, capacities and contexts.

The objective of this workshop is to allow leaders to map, the never-ending quest of your personal leadership journey, so that you can expand your “journey to wholeness”. You will develop a personal leadership approach that aligns your intelligences, passions, priorities and potentials for effective leadership in a complex world. The course will help you understand what is important to yourself and others and why you need a range of appropriate leadership capacities. It will enable you to interpret situations with an awareness of the physical, social, cultural and psychological contexts experienced by other people. It will provide a leadership approach that aligns systematically, strategically, socially and systemically the outcomes, objectives and actions you need to accomplish. The workshop will help participants lead appropriately and know why, who and when you need to bring others on to your leadership teams. It will offer participants opportunities to examine your leadership boundaries and expand your reach beyond space, time and moral limits that contain you now. It will give participants the opportunity to practise the skills of leading within a 4 Quadrant / 8 Level spectrum of leadership options. The workshop will help participants chart leadership directions that will enable you to continue your development after you leave the course.

 Participant Activities

 Participants will be active in:

  • Learning the basics of SDi Leadership so they can recognize what is important to the people that they lead
  • Practising the fundamentals of leadership roles so they can gain insight at who is skilled in different leadership modes
  • Learning the 8 levels and 4 integral perspectives that leaders need to expand their leadership influence in directions defined by space, time and moral span

  • Understanding how messaging and measuring contribute to intelligent leadership performance
  • Selecting and developing a leadership team appropriate to the culture(s) who can get the job done
  • Evaluation for continuous development of leadership capacities; using self, others, organization, community and systems feedback for effective results
  • Re-storying themselves as leaders along a natural leadership trajectory
  • Finding the voice of the leader who can convey the right message at the right time to different audiences
  • Coaching self and others for cohort, network and meshwork development
  • Gaining fluency in systems thinking so they can understand the complexities of life conditions, expand leadership imagination and move beyond strategic planning to systemic emergence

Main Features

In this Spiral Dynamics integral training, participants will learn the insights that Spiral Dynamic’s brings to integral leadership development and evolution. They will recognize the impact that life conditions have on effective leadership praxis.  Through evaluation, role playing, scenario challenges, and experiential engagement, participants will ground their understanding of leadership and what they need to do to develop it.

In interactive small groups, participants will experiment with discovering their own leadership v-memeplexes, through self and other assessment, reflection and peer coaching.

The role of leader will be examined through eight leadership lenses and participants will have the opportunity to assess themselves as leaders, team members and followers.

Our Leader-in-Residence will share the research of how leaders re-story themselves up and down the spiral, as well as help us explore perspectives from the four quadrants wearing integral lenses.

Dr. Hamilton’s research on learning and leadership in a self-organizing international community system will give participants new insights into the importance of making 4Q8L connections and influencing how meaning is made.

In practicums, participants will have the opportunity to practise, coach and reflect on leadership practices.

Leadership coaching will support participants to discover how to improve their effectiveness as leaders in their real life situations.

This highly interactive workshop will engage participants with individual, small group and large group work. They will have opportunities for self, peer and expert coaching to gain integral leadership skills for the 21st Century.
