Course Key Points:

This highly interactive workshop will guide participants through the process of creating Natural Designs and MeshWORKS for growing, developing and embedding in Canada’s corporations, institutions and life, the kind of intelligences that are required in order to create tomorrows that actually fit the emerging conditions of the 21st Century.  Open to all who have completed SDi Level One certification.

Enabling the emergence of a specific organization (of the participant’s choice) within a complex emerging cultural/social habitat, will be the key challenge for participants. A special case study of Creating A  Resilient Organization for Canada & the Globe  will be offered as a case study.

Participant Activities will:

·         consider a battery of assessment systems reflecting personal vMeme patterns, processing styles, and States of Change

·         examine different models of leadership, productivity, supervision, work groups and multiple bottom-lines; experience the myriad of organizational cultures and their relevance in various contexts

·         structure a Windows Wall, as a unique way to determine "the lay of the land" in the internal and external worlds

·         commence design of CultureSCANS and a Vital Signs Center as a way of monitoring progress, change, and transformation

·         sample a number of design tools and the expansive Adizes Methodology to get systems and structures set right at the beginning with the capacity to adjust to changes

·         enhance their abilities to train, communicate, motivate, and market the various vMeme codes in a fast-paced and innovative MEME FACTORY

·         employ the comprehensive 4Q/8L schematic in enriching individual and cultural interiors while stressing the growing importance of spirituality in the work place

·         as a culminating and synthesizing activity, form themselves into decision teams and compete with others in designing a national system (tbd) into PRIME, with the appropriate PAEI ratios, vMemetic connections, and executive intelligences

LEVEL II CERTIFICATION COURSE DETAILS

 Natural Designs & MeshWORKS:

Creating Resilient Organizations for Canada

 & the Globe

through Second Tier Leadership,

 Integral Alliances and Organizational Foresight

This workshop for the Spiral Dynamics community and constellation and will integrate, align and synergize all of the elements, resources, positives and stakeholders to enable emergence of an organization in a cultural/social habitat.  It combines state-of-the-art theory with hands-on, practical, and field-tested applications in the real world of business, government, education, health care, community development, sports management, and similar fields of interest.

 Main Features

This Spiral Dynamics Advanced event will focus specifically on organizational leadership, design, management, transformation and other areas of practical application of the conceptual system. Participants will use a series of new assessment methods and processes; will be involved in a simulated design of an emerging 21st century society and economy; and will work through a number of problems and challenges using the Spiral Dynamics Integral framework. Further, the Natural Designs & MeshWORKS program will offer a spectrum of methodologies that enhance the capacity of groups, organizations and governments to grow, develop and embed intelligences that adapt to the emerging conditions of the 21st century. Participants will be exposed to a number of successful case studies and will interact with well-recognized and highly competent experts, both as peers and remote advisors.

This advanced course in Spiral Dynamics is suited for leaders across all domains (both private and public sectors), line managers in all industries and functions, consultants, leadership coaches and others in the fields of business, health care, marketing, education, sports, religion/spirituality management, and others who are interested in designing and managing healthy and productive tomorrows for governments, organizations and citizens.

The course topics will include the following:

 ü  Natural Designs

[In contrast to rigid, artificial, and top-down leadership/management models]

  • The underlying principles and processes of “the natural.”  How to detect the ebb and flows, the unique patterns within the dispersal of information and energy unique to diverse functions and subfunctions.  How to detect the deepest vMemetic code within corporate suites and in power centers. Ways to assist decision-makers to detect the “natural flow” within their specific organization, culture or community.
  • The basic characteristics of “design.”  Forms, types, expressions, and manifestations of different types of designs from specific blueprints to linear sequences to simultaneous happenings to feedforward/feedback loops, and to fields of wisdom and knowledge that connect functions and people in holonic zones.
  • An assortment of “Natural Design tools.”  +Forging Bottom Lines   +Implementing Streams Sequences   +Deciphering vMemetic Codes   +Constructing vMemetic Maps +Elaborating  Quadrants  +Creating Monitors   +Applying Equations   +Reading Compasses   +Observing and adapting to Cycles   +Building Scenarios   +Facilitating Change  +Synchronizing Spirals (technical, business, human)  +Assessing People
  • Synthesis of approaches to Leadership, Organizational Theory, and Leadership styles. These scaffoldings of programs and options become a library and reference manual in crafting and cobbling together Natural Designs.

ü  MeshWORKS

[In contrast to linear, legalistic, regimented, governance rulebooks]

·         Conducting a CultureSCAN.  How to scan the complexity of internal and external cultures at the macro, meso and micro levels, to identify the dynamic patterns of vMemes at play and emerging in the human environment.

·         Enabling strategic foresight.  Using 4Q8L lenses to discern, create, explore and adapt scenarios of the 21st century.  Formulate strategies, destinations, preferred futures.

·         Generating action steps.  Developing courses of action from decision processes using a variety of Methodologies; eg. vMemetic Mapping, CAPI, Appreciative Inquiry.

·         Establishing Vital Signs Monitors.  How to create feedback and feedforward information loops to monitor progress and adapt foresight practices.

ü  Second Tier Leadership

[In contrast to car-wash, boilerplate, one-size-fits-all approaches]

·         Basic Assumptions of Leadership at the Second Tier: distinguishing characteristics

·         Expressions and Modes of First Tier Leadership: relationships, models and patterns

ü   Organizational Foresight

[In contrast to blinkers, next-quarter-results, mismatches, dysfunctional conflict, and chaotic command and control]

  • Connecting functions to be performed, forms of design that enable the functions; the fit of people to the various functions and forms; the arousal and sustainability of focus; the triggering and maintenance of flow; the fulfillment of the visions, needs and aspirations of people; the creation of an atmosphere of positive and high energy fun, and the perpetual sensitivity to the needs and demands of the future
  • Essential components, characteristics, and dimensions of an Organizational Foresight; how these dynamics can be identified, communicated, implemented and measured

ü   Integral Alliances

The Meme Factory: Where vMeme codes and Spiral Dynamics principles are translated collaboratively into alliances, programs, products, outcomes, and practical initiatives

  • Integral selection and commitment: The vMemetic matching of people, organizations and governments into appropriate functions, alliances and levels of responsibility
  • Integral Communication: Learning how to speak the language of various vMeme codes in the design of messages, advertising efforts, and sophisticated public relations initiatives
  • Integral Motivation: How to activate the multiple vMemetic bottom-lines of people, organizations and governments to connect the creation of desirable tomorrows to their natural motivational flow
  • Integral Marketing: How to determine the key decision-making motives of the customer, marketplace, clients, stakeholder, shareholders, constituents, etc. to appeal and relate to their deep vMeme codes
