Greetings Integral City-zens and Friends of Integral City

Today's Integral City Sparkie for the City Mind:

Clearly we have a powerful and dynamic mind, one that can recalibrate itself, form new vMEME systems in response to changing life conditions, and even create new organizational designs and functions in global arrangements unheard of only a decade ago.
Beck, D., Cowan, C., Spiral Dynamics: Mastering Values, Leadership and Change, London, Blackwell, 1996

The theme for this newsletter is Community and Homefulness. We have an invitation for participation in a Canadian Survey; the release of a new article on Reframing Approaches to Homelessness; and the 2007 event schedule for Integral City Canada. As usual we look forward to connecting with you.
1. You are invited by Drs. Ann Dale and Chris Ling to take the "Community Liveability Survey" conducted under the auspices of Royal Roads University. Regardless of geographic location, our communities are formed by the individual day-to-day choices we all make. Many of our decisions to live more sustainably are shaped by the community resources available to us such as public transit, access to shops and restaurants, water and sewer, friends and family, health care, schools, services for seniors, and recreational opportunities. But do we define communities or do they define us?

If you are a Canadian resident and can spare a few minutes, please consider completing the online
Community Liveability Survey at http://www.survey.crcresearch.org/index.php?sid=2 . Your responses could well help shape the world you leave to your children and grandchildren.

Five randomly chosen respondents will be selected at the end of the survey period to win an Apple iPod shuffleŽ. Your response is CONFIDENTIAL.  If you have questions, please don't hesitate to e-mail Chris Ling, chris.ling@royalroads.ca  .  And PLEASE feel free to share this Survey link with ALL your friends, family and colleagues.

3. The Article "Approaching Homelessness: An Integral Reframe" - by Dr. Marilyn Hamilton is just published in World Futures, Volume 63 Issue 2, pp.107-pp.126. Access it at: http://www.informaworld.com/openurl?genre=article&issn=0260-4027&volume=63&issue=2&spage=107&uno_jumptype=alert&uno_alerttype=author,email
This article explores a metaview of the many faces of homelessness. It analyzes an evolutionary meaning of home and suggests that ever-complexifying life conditions influence how societies enforce conformity to the status quo of homefulness. It goes on to describe how homelessness might be reframed as a complex adaptive form of survival for diversity generators who cannot or will not conform to the status quo. The article proposes an integral framework on which intervention strategies could be structured to provide evolutionary, appropriate, and flexible approaches to homelessness.

...  we hope these resources open some new doors for your sense of belonging and opportunities to contribute to creating the community you want and the world needs.
... we alway love to hear from you   :-).

...integral cheers and blessings ...

 Marilyn
