Today's Integral City Sparkie for the City Mind:

[I] need to learn to treat [my] perceptions as hypotheses that always need further investigation and continuous updating.
Bushe, G., Clear Leadership, Palo Alto, Davies Black Publishing, 2001

The theme for this newsletter is Meshworkingwww.integralcity.com says:

Meshworking is a term derived from brain science. Meshworks integrate hierarchies and self-organizing webs of relationships. Meshworking in the city, coordinates different capacities, functions, and locations so that alignment and coherence result in an integrated operating strategy and/or emergency response. Meshworking creates highly sensitive vital signs monitors, able to signal important events that can be effectively remembered and acted upon.

1. The topic of the new Sense in the City Ezine is "Meshworkers of the World Unite". Check out the stories of four Meshworkers at http://www.integralcity.com/Ezine%20Files/archive.asp

Here is an excerpt: "These few examples of meshworking illustrate that the “practice” can originate from the bottom of a system (where multiple hierarchies are meshed together in a self-organizing way as in Nova Scotia) or the top of a system (where hierarchies bring together existing meshes as in Imagine BC). In both cases, as the process matures, meshworking catalyzes a shift in the system, so that new capacities emerge and it reorganizes itself into something more internally resonant and externally coherent with life conditions."

2. If you would like to introduce someone to Spiral Dynamics or the Integral Framework for use in their community weaving, the Fraser Valley Centre for Social Enterprise is sponsoring an evening session, with Dr. Marilyn Hamilton on  The Spiral Dynamics integral Model: a Powerful Toolkit for Empowering Communities. Tuesday, April 10, 7.00 – 9.00 pm Community Futures South Fraser, #100 - 32383 South Fraser Way, Abbotsford. Call Suzanne at 604.864.5770 ext 304 for Pre-Registration. All proceeds to the Food Bank. Regn. $20. Students $10.

3. Corporate Alchemist, Linda Naiman and Meshworker Marilyn Hamilton invite you to join them at Royal Roads University, April 19 and 20, 2007 for a two day meshworking session to Discover the Artistry of Leadership for a Changing World. 5 ways to Register at http://www.royalroads.ca/continuing-studies/about-registration.htm.

In this two day session working with the Meshworker and the Alchemist you will discover the amazing qualities your brain possesses: capabilities for re-inventing itself by meshing neural nets and capacities to sort and choose amongst options by producing useful hierarchies. Leaders will be guided to gain deep insights, through artistic expressions of the evolutionary, developmental, self-organizing creation of their own brain/mind. They may experience the rearrangement of brain, body, relationships, expectations and paradigms!
4. Sustainable Community Meshworker Dr. Ann Dale has requested that you consider making a contribution to National Environmental Treasure (NET). See details at  http://www.oursafetynet.org/partners.htm .

If you are a Canadian resident and can spare a few minutes, please consider completing the online
Community Liveability Survey at http://www.survey.crcresearch.org/index.php?sid=2 . Your responses could well help shape the world you leave to your children and grandchildren.  Five randomly chosen respondents will be selected at the end of the survey period to win an Apple iPod shuffleŽ. Your response is CONFIDENTIAL.  If you have questions, please don't hesitate to e-mail Chris Ling, chris.ling@royalroads.ca  .  And PLEASE feel free to share this Survey link with ALL your friends, family and colleagues.

...  as we all learn to meshwork, we are creating what Teilhard deChardin called the noosphere -- the layer of living intelligence that embraces the earth. In the northern hemisphere, Spring is a good time of year to consider the many ways we inspire living intelligence to grow, connect, collaborate and network. Happy Spring Meshworking!

...integral cheers and blessings ...
